Presidential Merit Award

The NPI Presidential Award of Merit honors member(s) of NPI whom the current President determines went above and beyond the call of duty in their work/dedication to NPI during their presidential year.

2005
At the Annual Conference in Orlando, Florida, President Beth Fleming presented Presidential Merit awards to:

  • Kay Foster- Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, Texas
  • Rob Cox- Tarrant County, Texas
  • Roger Dempsey- City of Bryan, Texas

Kay was recognized for her work on the implementation and content management of the new NPI website, as well as her performance as Exhibits Committee Chair for the 2005 Conference in Orlando.  Rob was honored for his efforts as Sponsorship Committee Chair in 2005.  Roger was recognized for the outstanding program he put together for the 2005 Conference.  

2004
At the Annual Conference in Los Angeles, California, President John Balentine presented Presidential Merit awards to:

  • Dave Seward- Placer County, California
  • Linda McKeand- Washoe County Nevada
  • Beth Fleming of Denton County, Texas
  • Wayne Casper of Tuscon, Arizona
  • Richard Schlegel of Spectrum Services

Dave was recognized for his outstanding work on the program for the 2004 Conference.  Linda was recognized for her work on the Conference Spouse/Guest program.  Beth Fleming has been responsible for gathering information and submission of the application which has led to NPI achieving the ISM Affiliate of Excellence Award for the past two years.  Wayne Casper was recognized for founding, growing and enhancing the AEP program.  Richard Schelegel was recognized for serving as NPI's Executive Director from 1997 to 2004.

2003
At the Annual Conference in Austin Texas, President Mike Ryan presented Presidential Merit awards to:

  • Cheryl Turney - City of College Station Texas
  • Charlene Collins - Washoe County Nevada
  • a special “Lifetime Dedication” award to Rene 'Bates of Rene' Bates Auctioneers.

Cheryl was recognized for her outstanding work as Membership Chairman in addition to Program Chairman for the 2003 Conference.  Charlene was the driving force behind the design and implementation of the VIPs, internet based, training seminars.  Rene’ Bates was recognized for his 30+ years of support and friendship to NPI.

All of these individuals truly went above/beyond the call of duty for the National Purchasing Institute and are to be commended by all members.
