2004 AEP Special Awards

Recipients of the 2004 Excellence in Procurement Outstanding Contribution Award

Beth Fleming, C.P.M., A.P.P., received the Achievement of Excellence in Procurement's "Outstanding Contribution" award on October 18, 2004, at the National Purchasing Institute's 36th Annual National Conference in Los Angeles, California.

Beth Fleming is Director of Purchasing for Denton County, Texas.  Denton County is one of only six organizations to receive the AEP every year for nine straight years.  Beth is currently President of the NPI.  In addition, Beth was a contributing member of the AEP Committee for seven years.

Kirk W. Buffington, C.P.M., received the Achievement of Excellence in Procurement's "Outstanding Contribution" award on November 5, 2004, at the Florida Association of Public Procurement Officials' Fall Workshop in Jacksonville, Florida.

Kirk is the Director of Procurement Services, City of Fort Lauderdale, Florida.  Under Kirk's leadership, Fort Lauderdale has twice received the AEP.  Kirk is Past President of FAPPO (2000-2001).

Kirk has been a contributing member of the AEP Committee for four years.  During this time he has volunteered hundreds of hours in designing the program, evaluating the AEP applications, presenting AEP workshops, promoting the program, and becoming an ambassador for the AEP program.  In addition, Kirk has represented both FAPPO and NIGP on the AEP Committee.
